This is my favorite sentence because I’ve had to use it a lot, and that’s “I’d like this documented in my chart.”
If a doctor tells you, “No, I don’t think we need to do that. No, I don’t want to take that lab.
No, I don’t want to run this test,” you know, I hear so many people and patients that I talked to say, “Well, my doctor said they didn’t want to do that test. My doctor said they didn’t want to do that lab. Doctor said they didn’t want to deal with insurance.”
Well, then tell them you want it documented in your chart. That will nine times out of 10 change a doctor’s opinion, and suddenly they’ll say, “Oh, OK, well let’s do this test.”
